We're alive

Wow, I didn't realize it had been so long since I'd blogged! But, well, I'm tired and pregnant, and my alone time is only during Maya's nap and that is my time to chill and watch SVU on netflix. But now I'm done all 11 seasons and have to find something new to get into.... any suggestions? Jared and I are getting into Monk together, so it can't be that! Oh, and I don't really get alone time during the summer anyway because I have 2-3 extra kids around.

No gestational diabetes, thank heavens. We couldn't afford it. Carbs are cheap. I found the BEST potato soup recipe online recently. Here it is. I omitted the parsley (not a staple in my house), realized now I forgot the flour, and my measurements were probably way off (I ran out of chicken boullion cubes for one thing, and did a whole bag of potatoes- more than called for, and as much bacon as I felt like!). But yeah, it was YUM!

Another reason for lack of blogging- life has royally sucked at times. I wanted to blog at one point but it's probably a good thing I didn't because since this is public, it might have come back to bite me in the butt... it sufficeth to say there were false allegations put against me and it made me hate some people more than before and make life rough. But things have mostly blown over now and life goes on. Doesn't mean it didn't hurt. Doesn't mean I have forgiven those people. But again, life goes on. Ooblah dee, ooblah dah.

I'll hopefully know tomorrow evening-ish (appointment is at 4:30) if a date is set in stone for this baby to get hacked out of me. It'll probably either be August 12th or 15th. I'm aiming for the 12th because a) it's sooner, 2) Jared won't have to take days off work yet (my sister and mom will arrive the next day to help and Jared can stay with me over the weekend; he's off work Fridays anyway; he'll take time off after they leave), and D) the 15th is the birthday of a long lost friend of mine who I'd rather not have my baby share a birthday with. I say "lost"- she's NOT the same person she was way back when. If you knew, you'd understand.

And since it's funner to read with a picture to look at, here's Maya today with temporary tattoos on her cheeks (Ramie decorated herself last night so Maya wanted to, too- she also had them on her left arm and both legs. I shoulda tramp stamped her!).

Oh, and yes, that is the infant car seat in the background. It is clean and ready as of last night. All baby's clothes, blankets, etc, are washed. The crib has been up for weeks. It's time for her to get out!!!

Hello from the Kaiser lab...

I'm getting my 3-hour glucose tolerance testing done. I failed the one-hour at a lovely 143 when they want a max of 131. Therefore, I may have gestational diabetes. Oh, goody.

Yes, I know I suck at blogging. I thought I'd have more to show you, but apparently I also suck at taking pictures. There are more on my phone, but I didn't bring the mini (micro?) sd card adapter with me, so you'll just have to wait. Not that half of the pictures turn out very well, anyway. Never, NEVER EVER buy a Sprint LG remarq. World's worst currently-on-the-market phone.

But, anyway... here's Maya at one of her last kindermusik classes. We missed the last one because the day before she got diagnosed with pink eye. I'm not sure it was really pink eye- Jared and I didn't get it, and one round of drops and she was loads better, but she certainly had some sort of gross eye infection. She had lots of eye boogers and her eyelids and the surrounding areas were super red. Poor kid. She'd had a cold and fever in the days leading up to it, so she was just off kilter. Poor baby. But she's all better now and back to her typical charming self.

Maya is driving me out of my mind lately, but she can be funny and cute. One day last week it was getting rainy and I told her after nap we could go to the park if it stopped raining. She informed me we could sing itsy bitsy spider to make the rain go away. What a smart, funny kid. Along with the itsy bitsy spider- she calls fauctes- indoors and out- water spouts.

Another day that cracked me up so bad... the girl has got major gas sometimes- soooo stinky. She got up from the couch and it stunk so I said "do you have the fart farts?" and she does "no, that's you!" I laughed so hard.

One day she came upstairs to the kitchen and says "Mom, I saw Jared's butt!" I said, oh, you walked in on him in the bathroom?" and she says "yeah, that's nasty!" I had to brace myself against the counter I laughed so hard.

Potty training- almost there other than pooping in the potty (and getting her father to go along with making her use the toilet). She knows pull-ups are easier. Just yesterday she stripped, put on a pull-up over her panties, and proceeded to soak. Later shortly before dinner she stood near the front door and said "I'm peeing!" and instead of running into the bathroom as I told her to, she stood there and created a nice puddle. Little booger.

So... we belong to what our family calls "playplace." If you live in the Gresham area, I totally recommend it. Anyway, I like to "shop" in the swap area (I love dumping toys and clothes I don't want in my house anymore there, too!), and Maya sometimes hangs out with me rather than playing. One day I showed her what this contraption is, so she had to try to pump herself. This is one picture that made it off my phone because I just had to share!
And since my computer's battery is about to die and I must find a charging place, I will say goodbye for now...

Easter Sunday

Look closely- it's a toy pear, not an egg.
She found it (skipping over the actual eggs
in the drawer) and was confused :)

Happy Easter one and all... pretty sure Maya slept in this "dressed" (so she calls them) the night before. She's into sleeping in clothes lately. Whatever floats her boat... she surprised me with how much searching for eggs she actually did. The Easter Bunny put obvious ones out for her, but seeing her big bro and sisters looking probably helped aid her in looking more thoroughly! The Easter Bunny informed her she gets candy when she goes potty.

Trip to Georgia

Maya and I went to Georgia April 6th to 19th. Here are some pictures of my little monster for your viewing enjoyment.
Watching Toy Story on the Plane

Seeing Nana in the airport!

Playing at the park!

Maya loves to swing!

Another day at the park!

Zoo Atlanta! Checking out the kangaroos

There was a petting zoo area. Maya liked brushing the animals
(once Papa showed her how!)

Looking at the Pandas

Maya insisted on sitting on these seats and
wanted Nana to sit with her

After we saw the gorillas (which I wasn't sure she could see-
they had a huge habitat, so you had to look hard for them!),
Maya decided to "walk like a barilla")

My little meerkat. Too cute, huh?!?

Checkin' out the elephants with Papa

Playing at the playground (which was way more exciting to her than anything else in the zoo!)

I must say, I was proud of this action shot

She wanted to pet the kitty in this sculpture

Riding the train

You can't tell because of the apparently fabulous flash on my camera, but we went through a tunnel and this is her freaked out face

Nana and Papa like to spoil their granddaughter. After the train, Maya got a third ride on the carousel!

Ring Around the Rosies

This was on Sunday the 17th with Maya and her second cousins, Jackson and Caroline.

Little Drummer Girl

These were March 26th (Nana's birthday!) in Salem at our friends' house. Maya misses her favorite babysitters! (As do I! I wish I had a teenager here who'd drive/walk over at the drop of a hat just to hang out and/or watch Maya for me!) I love how when Cierra's helping her play she blinks and blinks!

Checkin' In

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know I suck at blogging. A needy 2-year-old can do that to you (and a fetus sucking the life- in my case every ounce of energy- out of you). And when you're at your parents' with free time and there's an ethernet cord a whopping 8 inches long coming out of the hole in the baseboard to connect you, it's just not so comfy to be on your laptop! (Maya sleeps in the room with the desktop and the wireless connection is horrid).

SO, although I have a TON of pics I could be posting, they'll have to wait. I'm just waiting for Jared to call back and figured I'd finally say we're alive.

Maya and I are in Georgia with my parents. It was the first plane ride she had her own seat, so it was GREAT! Not so much fun schlepping (is that even a word? My family uses it) all our crap around with a layover, but we got the beast of a Graco stroller out of the attic and it holds a LOT of stuff! So we survived and are safe and sound in Snellville. There was a semi-good thunderstorm the other night. Oh how I miss those. I love when the thunder makes the house shake.

Maya's been spoiled rotten, but Nana actually said to her today "you are a b-r-a-t!" and it cracked me up. She wcouldn't bear to tell her grandbaby she's a brat, but could spell it! Maya is one crazy child at times! Terrible two's- wow, they aren't joking. Something snapped shortly after her second birthday!

I'm almost 22 weeks preggo now (approx) and still clueless as to what to name this little girl. Part of me hopes she pops out a boy so I can just name her Benjamin as planned, but a baby boy wouldn't want to wear all the cute girl clothes Maya used to wear and the extras Nana has purchased to make up for the change in seasons. "Clueless" doesn't sound right- there are "clues" alright- ideas and such, but nothing sounds right. I always loved the name Naomi (likely for a middle name), but went to a wedding reception (more a casual open house at brother's home) and there was a dog named that. So there's an example of something lingering in the back of my mind then getting checked off the list.

My Jared has called... so goodbye to my blogging fans!
